A good speaker stand
is a vital part of any good home theater system or audio
system. Not only will a good stand make the speakers
look better, it also can dramatically improve their
performance. A quality speaker stand is designed to
perform two important tasks: elevate the speaker to the
proper height, and remove excess energy from the speaker
cabinet.
Why is it necessary to
elevate the speaker? Because high frequencies are
directional, the high frequency driver, called a
tweeter, should sit at a height equal to or just above
the listener's ears. Proper tweeter elevation improves
high frequency sound and adds an openness and ambience
to the performance you can't get any other way.
